Metal weight calculator
Estimate round bar, tube, plate and hexagonal stock weight. Enter dimensions in millimetres, density and quantity for results in kilograms.
Approximate stock weight, not a substitute for finished-part or shipment weighing.

Enter valid positive dimensions and a whole-number quantity. Tube inside diameter must be zero or positive and smaller than the outside diameter.

Calculation method
Weight = cross-sectional area × length × density / 1,000,000,000, with dimensions in mm. For hexagons, measure across flats, not across corners.
Areas: round πD²/4; tube π(D²−d²)/4; rectangular width × thickness; hexagon √3 × across-flats²/2.
Material guide CNC cost calculatorFrequently asked questions
Is this a measured weight?
No. It is an estimate from nominal dimensions and entered density; tolerances, coatings, additional holes and packaging are not included.
Which units are used?
Dimensions are mm, density kg/m³ and output kg. Use a decimal point or comma, without thousands separators.
How should I choose density?
Use the material producer's value for the specific grade. The initial 7850 kg/m³ is only an approximate steel reference, not a value for all metals.
Are calculator inputs transmitted?
Calculation runs in your browser; this tool does not send inputs to a calculation server.
