For technical buyers, manufacturing the shape is only part of the requirement. Material, thread specification, strength or hardness, coating, traceability and batch consistency are reviewed together with the drawing and service conditions before quotation.
Perno is a broad term used in several markets for a generally cylindrical component that joins parts, transfers load or works as a hinge or pivot. Depending on the sector and country, it may refer to a pin, bolt, stud, shoulder shaft or pivot bolt. The drawing geometry, thread, tolerance and service load—not the name alone—therefore govern manufacturing.

Drawing-based production can be evaluated where standard dimensions or property classes are insufficient. Load-bearing shoulders, thread runouts, under-head radii, cross holes and locking features are reviewed as part of the complete component.

Manufacturing route from drawing to shipment
A typical route includes technical and revision review, material sourcing, CNC turning/milling, thread manufacture, heat treatment where required, finish machining or grinding, coating, thread and dimensional inspection, and protective packing. The appropriate thread-making method is selected during quotation from geometry, quantity and specification.
Material, strength and heat treatment
C45/C45E, 42CrMo4, 34CrNiMo6, suitable case-hardening steels and stainless grades can be reviewed against the drawing. Material or property requirements are confirmed from tensile/shear load, impact, fatigue, wear, corrosion, temperature and the mating component. A standard bolt class is not treated as automatically equivalent to a custom geometry without engineering review.

Threads, tolerances and functional dimensions
The quotation and inspection plan should clearly define thread standard, diameter-pitch, tolerance class, right/left hand, full thread length and inspection method. Shoulder diameter, under-head radius, concentricity, runout and hole position are treated as separate functional checkpoints. Achievable tolerance depends on component size, material, heat treatment and finishing route.
Coating, quality and batch assurance
Zinc, phosphate, black oxide, hard chrome or other suitable finishes are reviewed together with corrosion target, friction behaviour, coating thickness, masking areas and risks such as hydrogen embrittlement. Post-coating thread fit and critical dimensions are tied to the inspection plan; required records are agreed during quotation.

For a fast, realistic manufacturability review, send a PDF drawing and, where available, STEP/STP together with quantity, annual demand, material/standard, thread data, critical tolerances, heat treatment, coating, documentation needs and destination country. State separately if reverse engineering from an existing sample is required.

What is a perno, and how does it differ from a bolt or pin?
Usage varies by market; perno can mean a pin, bolt, stud or pivot component. Once thread, head, shoulder, fit and loading are defined on the drawing, the correct manufacturing and inspection route can be selected.
Can non-standard dimensions and custom threads be manufactured?
Yes, subject to drawing review. State thread standard, diameter-pitch, tolerance class, hand, full thread length, material and quantity in the RFQ.
Can heat-treated or coated fasteners be supplied?
Subject to technical and specification review, heat treatment, grinding and suitable coatings can be coordinated within the manufacturing plan. Hardness, coating thickness, masking and final dimensions are confirmed before quotation.
Can production move from prototype to repeat series?
Suitability depends on geometry, quantity and capacity. The approved revision, material, process and inspection plan are retained as the reference for repeat orders.
