Manufacturing capability for long, controlled bores

Deep Hole Drilling for Long Precision Bores

Using the BTA method, Ø30–110 mm bores are drilled through solid steel in one pass up to 4 000 mm and come out honing-ready. Honing up to Ø300 × 2000 mm and hard chrome can follow.

deep hole drilling Turkey

BTA deep-hole drilling produces Ø30–110 mm bores through solid steel in one straight pass up to 4 000 mm, ready for honing. Where final size and surface require it, honing up to Ø300 × 2000 mm can follow, with hard chrome also available in the process route. Bore axis, drift, entry and exit conditions and material are reviewed for every drawing.

How 4-metre deep-hole drilling works

Animation: BTA deep-hole drilling pumps coolant around the drill tube and returns chips through the centre — one straight pass up to 4 000 mm, honing-ready.

  1. Coolant is pumped in around the drill tube.
  2. Chips return through the tube centre.
  3. One straight pass up to 4 000 mm through solid steel.
  4. Bores Ø30–110 mm come out honing-ready.

FAQ

Questions international buyers ask

What is the difference between BTA drilling and gun drilling?

Gun drilling feeds coolant through the drill and evacuates chips along an external V-flute, typically for smaller diameters. BTA (STS) drilling pumps coolant around the drill tube and returns chips through the tube centre, which suits larger diameters and long bores. We drill BTA Ø30–110 mm up to 4 000 mm in one pass, honing-ready.

What information is needed for a deep bore?

Provide diameter/length, tolerance, axis datum, drift limit, through/blind-end geometry, material and final surface requirement.

Can every diameter be drilled to 4000 mm?

No. Even within approx. Ø30–110 mm, feasibility depends on L/D ratio, material, drift requirement and bore type.

Can the bore be honed after drilling?

Yes. When final diameter, tolerance, cylindricity and roughness are defined, drilling allowance can be planned for honing.

How is bore accuracy inspected?

The method follows bore size and acceptance criteria; diameter, position to datums and drift can be reported with suitable inspection methods.

Can turning be included with deep-hole drilling?

Yes. External-diameter datums, the entry face and bore axis of the new component can be prepared in one route while preserving stock for any subsequent honing or internal grinding.
