The parts were small and the fins were thin. The hard part was preventing distortion and holding tolerance across the series. The customer name, part details and commercial terms are confidential and are not published.

Why was this job difficult?

Thin fins on small parts can flex easily during machining. Parts with a lot of material removed also tend to distort. Three points therefore mattered most on this job:

  • ✓Thin fins
  • ✓Distortion
  • ✓Tolerance across the series

Fast machining in a single setup with a fixture

A custom fixture with 12 part positions was prepared for this job. The parts were machined in a single setup. This reduced machine loading, sped up production and held every part in the same position.

Why 7075 aluminium?

7075 is a high-strength aluminium alloy that machines well. It suits small parts that need a strong body at low weight.

Inspection and documentation

A quality report and measurement record were prepared for the parts. They are customer-specific and are not published here.

FAQ

Questions international buyers ask

Why do thin-finned aluminium parts distort?

When a lot of material is removed, internal stresses are released and the part can change shape. Thin walls also flex under cutting forces.

Do you make small aluminium parts in series?

Yes. On this project, small aluminium parts were machined in series. Share your drawing and quantity and we will review them.

Can you ship parts uncoated?

Yes. The parts on this project were shipped uncoated. The surface requirement follows the drawing.
