The assembly uses a ground tapered pin and slotted sleeves with a straight outside diameter and tapered bore. Tightening the end bolt and washer drives each sleeve up the taper so it expands into the worn lug bore. In many cases this can allow installation without line boring or welding, subject to review of bore measurements, load and joint geometry. Expansion range depends on sleeve design and is defined on the drawing; no universal value is promised.
Made-to-drawing manufacturing scope
Expanding pivot pins and conventional pivot pins can be made to the customer’s drawing in Ø30–500 mm diameters and lengths up to 4 m; turning capacity is Ø700 × 4000 mm. Options include 42CrMo4 and 34CrNiMo6, quenched and tempered or induction hardened, and 8620 or 20NiCrMo2-2 with case hardening. Optional hard chrome plating and grinding within our partner workshop network can be included in the manufacturing route. Final material, hardness, sleeve geometry, finish and dimensions follow the approved drawing.
Underground-loader pin reference
Reference work: long pivot pins up to 4 m for underground mining loaders, produced to drawing.
Secondary application: fixture expanding pins and collets
The same general taper-and-expansion principle can also serve locating fixtures, assembly tools and interchangeable tooling. For these smaller pins, split sleeves and collet components, define the mating bore, contact length, cycle count, load direction and inspection dimensions in free and actuated conditions. Fixture components are not automatically equivalent to heavy-equipment pivot pins in function or load capacity.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Do you make expanding pivot pins?
Yes. Ground tapered pins and slotted sleeves with a straight OD and tapered bore are made to the customer’s drawing.
Can you make pins for mining loaders up to 4 m long?
Yes, subject to drawing review, pins can be made in Ø30–500 mm diameters and lengths up to 4 m. Turning capacity is Ø700 × 4000 mm; grinding is performed within our partner workshop network.
